Into the Eagle's Nest

I arrived safely in Salzburg, although very tired from the many days of walking that I've been doing. I decided to just stay in, since I had arrived at 7pm. Just journaled, then read the section in Band of Brothers about the Eagle's Nest, since those were my plans for the next morning. Well, at 8pm in the lobby of my hostel, they were showing The Sound of Music, which is set and filmed in Salzburg. I figured, what the heck. I'm tired anyways. So I ventured down and sat with two girls from London, one of which is totally all about the Sound of Music. Then three Aussie guys who are in the same room as me walked up and were like "We saw the Band of Brothers book on your bed, and we're going to Eagle's Nest tomorrow" so the four of us went out after the movie to sample Salzburg's nightlife. We had a good time, then hit the hay (or, as they say, rucked out. Or rooked out. I don't know how to spell it. Or why they call McDonalds "Mackies.") They all paid for the guided tour (about $65 US), while I decied to use my train pass and wing it. I never saw them there, but I did meet a guy from the UP, travelling with a guy from Louisiana, and the three of us wandered about the Eagle's Nest. I got some pictures of the place, but the overpriced internet cafe I'm at right now doesn't have access to USB ports, so I can't show you any of them. I'm heading to Kitzbuhel tomorrow night, for three nights. It's near Innsbruck, so I can go there for a day, and also check the place out. As for the future, I think Italy may be in the running.

I get the first omment "RIGHTEOUS" I beat Mitch, Katie, Tammy, Trace, and you MOM - HU RAH......Well your adventure is pretty flippin Cool, and if you get the chance - I wouldn't mind seeing the pics of the Nest. I just watched the series Band of Brothers last week.
I'm sort of jelous, as far as you maybe going to Italy. Make sure to hit a few of the small towns that are up high in the hills - they are long walks, but well worth it according to my mom and dad who went a year ago or so. There is a good chance that I might be going to the Med. or the Caribean after Hawaii.
Well I miss you chump, and hope you have safe travels. And like way to go as far as pimping those girls from London - Julie says I'm a PIMP, but I think U got me beat Brother - **GOOD JARB SUPERSTAR**

Love your Brother in Christ

So glad to see you are having such a great time! What an adventure! Al and I talk about you everyday, wondering what you are up to, what you have seen, and if you can find an internet hotspot. Grand Haven is the same. We are getting some rain tonight as I type this. This is the big week of graduation open houses and the weather should be lovely. (Does that make you feel old?) Thank you for taking the time to post - it is wonderful to see the world - even if it is thru someone else's eyes! Love ya, Al & Barb

Innsbruck! Make sure that you go to the chapel there. It is pretty amazing. It's in the city's center and kinda hard to find but totally worth it!
Dom zu St. Jakob
(Saint Jacob's Dome)
Monumentally amazing. And don't get lost because Innsbruck does not have any straight roads.

And if you go to Italy, make sure Milano is on the list. It also has one amazing church. Duomo.

Have a great time on the continuation of your blessed journey. Much love from B.R.!
